Artist’s Statement

My art often begins with a reflection on nature and my experiences that culminates in an abstract creation. These thoughts bring forth certain colors, textures, and energy that influence my art work.
Once I begin the process, I am immersed in the media, the reactions of the colors that often take my work in unexpected directions. The process of creating becomes a guide in itself as I pour paint or apply it with a brush that becomes an extension of my hand and my mind.   I work in layers with glazes, mediums, acrylic paints and found objects until I create a finished piece that speaks to me and to those viewing it.I love to experiment, try new things and ideas. In the end ideas are exchanged and a new conversation is created via the artwork, the artist and the viewer.
