The
creation of my art begins by collecting pieces of life
by photographing nature, people, portals, textures,
forms, and whatever catches my eye. Although these
elements of time and space are captured with light
existed separately, they unite in a new synergy.
Compositions are created with the computer as my brush,
manipulating
in
PhotoShop, and other software, and digitally layering
the images. I may also incorporate traditional media in
the work such as acrylics, drawing and found objects.
Art
has always been part of who I am from an early age it
was what made everything in life come together. My
artworks have grown from realistic, to abstract
figurative, to quite abstract as I have learned to bring
my interest in the inner spaces of life to my artwork. I
was developing mixed media works that brought many
elements together, torching and tearing holes, healing
the canvas with layers of fabric or pieces of nature,
when I became involved with a new corporation. It
required the use of various types of office equipment.
While working on the computer and faxing documents, I
began to see the potential of using these machines in my
artwork. I realized that a fax machine could create a
transparency that was similar to a graphic arts film.
This could be used in the darkroom! This led to
exploring the creation of art on the computer. I found
that layering images had amazing possibilities not only
in Adobe PhotoShop as well as other software, but
physically with transparencies opened up a whole new
world of expression. Now I am coming full circle,
bringing the digital photographic collages into
compositions with other media.
The
imagery of my work is part of my exploration of the
relationships of life and matter. My intention is to
connect the pieces and share them with others. Digital
imaging allows me the freedom to create other realities,
new environments to stimulate the imagination of the
viewer, bringing the artist and viewer together in
shared communication. |
